VOTING SITE LOCATION

All Municipal Elections (including Early Voting) are held at:

City Hall, City Commission Chambers located at 302 W. Reynolds Street, Plant City, FL 33563

     Early Voting Dates:    April 4th & April 5, 2025 (Friday & Saturday) 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

(Note: If a candidate runs for an office seat un-opposed, there is no Election held for that Seat)

QUALIFICATIONS 

Each  candidate  running  for  office  shall  have  be residents of the City of Plant  City, living within City Limits for a period of one (1) year prior to qualifying to run for office and shall have all the qualifications of electors of the city.

QUALIFYING DATES

         QUALIFYING PACKETS ARE AVAILABLE FOR PICK-UP AT THE CITY CLERK'S OFFICE PRIOR TO QUALIFYING WEEK

 Beginning at Noon, February 10 and Ending at Noon, February 14, 2025

  • Qualifying papers will only be accepted during normal business hours from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday, excluding holidays. Candidates must contact the City Clerk's Office to schedule an appointment when ready to submit filing fees and required qualifying paperwork.

  • It is a candidate’s responsibility to ensure that the required qualifying paperwork is complete and qualifying fees are timely received by the Filing Officer during the qualifying period time and dates as specified above in order for a candidate to be qualified.  

  • Packets will include information relating to Form 1 Financial Disclosure, Candidate Oath Non-Partisan, Oath of Candidate Residency and Appointment of Campaign Treasurer Forms, along with other information relating to candidacy.

FORMS REQUIRED TO OPEN CAMPAIGN ACCOUNT

Form DS-DE9, Appointment of Campaign Treasurer and Designation of Campaign Depository, must be filed with the qualifying officer before opening a campaign bank account or accepting or spending any funds. Within ten days after filing Form DS-DE9, the candidate must file Form DS-DE84, Statement of Candidate, with the qualifying officer.

METHODS OF QUALIFYING FOR THE BALLOT BY FEE 

F.S.99.093  – Candidates  pay  an  election  assessment  fee  of  $97.42  (which  is  1%  of  the  $9,741.59 annual salary) along with a $25.00 filing fee. Fees and Forms are due the week of qualify period.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE QUALIFYING OFFICER

Florida Statutes 99.061(7)(c) - The filing officer performs a ministerial function in reviewing qualifying papers.  In determining whether a candidate is qualified, the filing officer shall review the qualifying papers to determine whether all items required to qualify have been properly filed and whether each item is complete on its face, including whether items that must be verified have been properly verified.  The filing officer may not determine whether the contents of the qualifying papers are accurate.
