Fire Prevention / Public Education

Overview
Plant City Fire Rescue Prevention Division conducts fire safety inspections annually. We perform safety Inspections in accordance with the Florida Fire Prevention Code to help business owners maintain a safe business. The primary focus, when performing these inspections, is life safety. This includes safety for the owner, employees, customers, and firefighters in the case of an emergency.

The mission is to apply the Florida Fire Prevention Code in a uniform manner. This gives the public a reasonable expectation of fire safety in the commercial buildings we inspect. During the fire inspection, if we find a code violation, we provide the business or building owner written notice and provide an adequate correction period. If compliance has not been achieved in the time frame allowed, the issue may be referred to City Code Enforcement Board for further actions.

We also conduct the following:

  • New commercial construction plans review
  • Fire protection systems plans review
  • Occupational license inspections
  • Certificate of occupancy inspections
  • Fire Education Safety Programs
