On 7-1-2008, defendant Christopher Collins was being pursued by Plant City and HCSO units for
recent armed burglaries. Collins then entered the residence of Anthony Mendolia by breaking a
Window. One of Mendolia's family members was home at the time of the burglary and contacted
Mendolia who responded home. Mendolia found Collins inside the residence and fearful for his
family members he shot Collins hitting him in his left foot. Collins was arrested running from the
residence and later taken to South Florida Baptist Hospital where he was treated for his injury
Collins was later booked in at Orient Rd. jail.
