In accordance with the Lead and Copper Rule (LCR), The City of Plant City, Utilities Operations Division will be performing its Tri-Annual Lead and Copper Tap Sampling during the months of June through September of 2017 as required by the United States Environmental Protection Agency and the Florida Department of Environmental Protection. Preparations for this sampling event will begin in late February. Due to recent events elsewhere in the United States, the Florida Department of Health is requiring all community water systems to reevaluate their monitoring sampling site plans. This process will include a survey of the sites in our established sampling pool to verify valid sites and to identify sites that must be disqualified from the pool. Two examples of conditions that will disqualify a site from the sampling pool include homes that have been re-plumbed or that have a point-of-use or a point-of-entry system (water softener). In order to perform this site survey, representatives of The City of Plant City Utilities Operations Division will be reaching out to home-owners in the established sampling pool either by phone or letter to ask a few pertinent questions. Please refer to the attached Florida Department of Health – Hillsborough County document for full details. Questions can be directed to Zoé Chaiser, Quality Control / Permit Compliance Coordinator at 757-9191 ext. 111.
