Computers and Technology Resources @ the Library

Library Computers

The general public is welcome to use the library’s computers as long as they follow the Hillsborough County Public Library Cooperative’s Internet Access Policy (PDF).
  • All customers are limited to 150 minutes of Internet use per day.
  • Sessions are limited to 90 minutes, 1 hour, 30 minutes or 15 minutes.
  • The library has 23 Internet computers with Microsoft Office 2013.
  • We have 4 computers for children under the age of 12 that contain educational software.
  • We also have catalog and database computers that allow patrons to access our catalog, our databases and government websites like Access Florida.

Residents of Hillsborough County

  • A library card is required to access an Internet computer. Internet users must have a current library record with less than $10 in outstanding fees.
  • The default PIN number for a card is the last four digits of the phone number on file for that account.
  • Internet users under the age of 17 are required to have a library card and to watch a twenty minute Internet safety tutorial called NetSmartz before accessing the Internet.
  • Students attending Hillsborough County Public Schools may use their student ID numbers to login on Internet computers through the HAAL Pass program. All users of HAAL Pass accounts must complete the Netsmartz Internet safety tutorial before accessing the internet for the first time.

Non-Residents

  • Non-residents must show photo ID to obtain a guest pass for Internet access.

Wi-Fi

  • We have a free, publicly available Wi-Fi network for anyone with their own device (laptop, smartphone, tablet, etc.).
  • To use it select the SSID/network identifier HCPLC-Library in your Wi-Fi configuration, making sure that encryption is turned off or not enabled. You then need to accept the Library Computer Use Rules Terms & Conditions to activate service. If the agreement page does not pop-up automatically, open your web browser and try to go to any website such as Google.com or Yahoo.com.
